Anthropic Files for IPO: What It Means If You Run Your Business on Claude

Anthropic, the company behind Claude, filed for an initial public offering on October 26, 2026. If you use Claude to write, code or run automations in your business, here is what the filing reveals and what it means for you.

The details

  • Anthropic filed a Form S-1 with the US SEC and plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker “ANT”.
  • The filing shows $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from about $1.2 billion in the same period of 2025.
  • It reports a net loss of about $80.7 billion for the half year, most of which comes from non-cash accounting changes on convertible notes and similar instruments; the operating loss was about $693 million.
  • More than 11,900 customers spent over $100,000 with Anthropic in the twelve months to September 30, 2026.
  • Price range and share count are not set yet. Media reports point to a listing as early as mid-November, which the filing itself does not confirm.

The S-1 also lists the risks you would expect from a frontier AI lab, including that models “may behave in unintended, misaligned, or autonomous ways”, heavy spending commitments on computing power and dependence on a limited number of large customers.

Why you should care

  • Claude is not going anywhere soon. A company with this revenue and cash position is unlikely to shut down products you rely on. That makes Claude a safer foundation for long-term workflows.
  • Expect more pressure to monetise. Public companies answer to shareholders every quarter. Watch for pricing and plan changes over the next year, and keep your automations model-agnostic where you can.
  • Don’t build on one model only. Tools like n8n let you swap the chat model in a workflow with a couple of clicks. Keep a second provider configured as a fallback.

Our take: nothing changes in your day-to-day use of Claude today. The practical move is the same one we recommend after any big AI headline: keep your prompts and workflows portable, so you can switch models if prices or terms change.
